This is our shortest trip and is for weekend trips or for short break opportunities. Generally it is a two day trip involving us in teaching the students to sail and take part in a trip to a tropical island where the group can camp and enjoy a range of evening activities that add to their enjoyment and extend the adventure.
Again we begin at Ao Yon Bay on Phuket island, where we meet the group, allocate them boats and complete a safety briefing and a short lecture on rigging a boat and hoisting sails. The morning is a teaching session, usually about 2 hours long and the afternoon is where we galvanise crew and sail en masse to the outlying island of Ko Rang Yai. By five o clock we are on the beach, with yachts safely anchored off shore and tents pitched while the teachers and skippers organize cabins, boats and evening activitiers. Food is either a BBQ prepared by the island staff or a Buffet meal (Thai food mainly). A bonfire can be made on the beach and a games theatre constructed. There are many safe activities on the island – and if the students or group have any energy left they can engage in them. The island is a small paradise and the staff of 5 are a delight, looking after all with considerable attention to detail and an always pleasant and helpful demeanour.
Day two is spent learning more about boats, improving skills and enjoying the experience of gliding silently through water. Before lunch we start our home passage making sure that we are well and truly ready for a short passage and a safe homeward journey. Learn to Sail Certification can be awarded to students on this trip. Although only two days it’s surprising what the students can learn and how much they enjoy the experience.
This trip is again a sketch outline and we are able to adjust it to our clients wishes for the most part. If you are interested call us or email us or complete the quick contact form below. We are happy to discuss options and variations.
