Phuket is synonymous with yachting in SE Asia. Sail in Asia use a range of yachts that are ideal for training. When we have small groups of 15-20 persons we use our own fleet of training boats but when we have groups of 80-90 students we use a variety of craft. Check out our flotilla movie to see how big the fleets are and also the quality of the yachts and catamarans. There are boats for all tastes.
Our smallest yacht is a Platu - a six person sports keel boat that our students love sailing. She has won many races and regattas and is our main Learn to Sail, training boat. Students find this yacht an easy first step, because she is responsive and easy to handle.
Our medium size yacht is Tag, a cruiser racer that once again has a very good racing record, having won just about every regatta in Asia, including the King's Cup. She is a delight to handlle and students find her wheel steering to be light and responsive. Tag has come all the way from the Mediterranean and is a blue water, ocean going yacht, that is easy to sail. This yacht sleeps eight people and is luxuriously appointed.
Our largest yacht is a famous name in Asia. Switchblade is a racing yacht with pedigree and which is still winning races at every regatta. She is the most beautiful yacht and sails like a dream. She can take 15 people sailing at speed and with everyone doing a valuable job. Switchblade needs 10 people to roll her sails and fold them or hoist them each time she goes out. This is a team building yacht par excellence. Check out our schools sailing movie and see what our Sail in Asia fleet looks like.
